The generation to end cancer. At Sigma Chi, this is our battle cry. Thousands of Sigma Chi have stepped up to fund cancer research and last year announced a 7-year commitment to raise $10M to fuel the innovative research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI).
“This will be the last generation to fight this disease because it’s taken more lives than all the wars and all the terrible diseases in the history of man. Right here today is one of the great steps forward… you could do no greater work than any other in the world than to help end this horrible, horrible disease.”
-Jon M. Huntsman, Sr., Four-time Cancer Survivor, Huntsman Cancer Institute Founder, Significant Sig and Order of Constantine Sig Jon M. Huntsman (Penn 1959), June 15, 2015, at the Dedication to the Sigma Chi International Fraternity Sixth Floor at Huntsman Cancer Hospital
We are making the largest commitment to a philanthropy in the history of men’s fraternity because we are Sigma Chi. The generation to end cancer.

The Derby Challenge is a friendly competition amongst chapters raising funds for cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). Using this web site during your Derby Days or philanthropy week makes it easier and faster to collect funds. Thanks to our generous members, sorority partners, and our family and friends, Sigma Chi has raised more than $2 million for cancer research at HCI.
SIGMA CHI'S GOAL FOR 2016/2017: RAISE $1.5 million dollars. Every dollar funds research that pursues the most novel and innovative projects with immediate implications in caring for cancer patients. Chapter winners are announced each year at Balfour Leadership Training Workshop. The Challenge runs annually from August 1 to July 31.
